I missed your permission to chill event! Do you have any play sessions /workshops planned for the summer? I need to do a better job staying up to date on your writing so I don't miss it! (not the only reason I want to stay up to date on your writing of course, but one of them!)
I made fairy doors on Sunday! On Friday, I picked up an…idealistic…amount of them (~250) thinking I might do a little event of some sort. I painted two on Sunday and plan on taking pictures to remind folks about the 31st.
The chillness may become a monthly event, because some local folks have been interested and it’s really quite lax to run. In terms of other ones, I’m not sure yet! Reason to follow along. :)
The increasingly reliance on AI makes me worried for our future. Also saying and thinking that makes me feel 10,000 years old and like I have a tin foil hat on. But seeing the amount that high school students are using it to think rather than support is worrisome. The thought that we would also accept as a society using AI for emotional detachment from society is terrifying. It certainly won’t help the “male loneliness epidemic” and inter-gender relationships.
The social skills kids didn't learn during the pandemic, and the relational skills they lost because they're using AI instead of sharing vulnerability are my old man shaking fist at sky concerns.
I think that's why it's really important to model these things as we can. I know you're really conscious about building strong relationships (kid dates!). You and I aren't likely to take down OpenAI, but we can teach them well and let them lead the way, show them all the beauty they possess inside, give them a sense of pride, and so on.
(PS: in my presentation on "relational debt" due to AI today, I made that reference and got crickets. Gotta get younger references to stay hip. lol)

There will be another on the 31st!

We will be camping on the 31st but I’ll keep an eye out in case it’s late enough in the day. Otherwise: yes, following along! :)

Thanks for the comment, Mary. :)
