Reading this, I kept thinking about the process of autistic / ADHD unmasking and the role play can have. I'm so curious about it and also letting loose feels.. scary!

To me, the process of unmasking ideally feels a bit like play - trying on different aspects of our personality, letting a nuance bubble to the surface, playing a part, going back to what feels comfortable some days, and exploring new characters, selves, non-selves (? -language is hard!) on other days.

I always enjoy reading your perspective! I think one day I'll sign up for one of your play sessions - keep telling us about them! :)

Thank you for making the connection to unmasking, Hanna! I love how you've described it as "letting nuance bubble to the surface" - that's such a gentle way of phrasing it.

And yes, words are hard! We're all finding our way through these not-concepts together. :)

WHEN you join (teehee), the Creative Coalition is chill because who wants a stressful play group? Sunday is actually the first live-play I've hosted through Creative Coalition. They are usually mindful writing exercises from journaling games (every month is different). If it helps, we'll do our city/story planning in a shared doc, but there isn't any in-character role-play.

If you have specific questions or concerns, feel free to follow-up or DM -- maybe I can address them for others in a future post or note!

Thank you for the invitation!! This time it’s just that the timing doesn’t work out. And it’s not like I haven’t played games before, but it does just take a bit of courage to enter a new space you know? I’m warming up to it and next time the timing works for me, I might just have the courage.
